piranhas with neon tetras?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
depends on there size! a 5" red will eventually go after them I wouldn't try this until they reach atleast 8"+, mine is 11" and I'm about to try this and I'm still a bit worried but I think it will work with his size, smaller P would just be throwing money down the toilet.

I also have 11 inch Piranha and I do keep small fish in with my Piranha .
Here is a quote of my experience .

" I put in lots of little fish all at once with my big Piranha BAD IDEA the big Piranha take
after the -little fish in big numbers- , The Piranha can hurt them selfs giving chase VIA The little fish are just to fast , My Piranha busted a lip and scuffed them selfs up . With one or three little fish the big Piranha will not bother
they approach the little fish and the little fish hall a$# thus the big Piranha not
giving chase . What happens when the little fish are in Big numbers the big
fish approaches and all the little fish scatter the big fish gets excited seeing
all the fish and will try but will hopelessly fail "

its hit or miss when i first got my p's i had 6 black tetras and 6 neons for the longest time then the neons started to get eaten and eventualy as the p's grew they ate the black ones
after that i moved to convicts as tank mates/food, the first one i put in the tank got agressive with the p's and was killed but now my tank had 10-15 1/2 to 3/4 inch convict fry that are doing quite well although its hard to get a good count on them since they do alot of darting in and out of the plants

just my very little personal experience...

i put 5 1" or so rummynose tetras in with my 6" elong and they were all gone w/i a day

interesting. I have not tried this nor do i really want to. either all your tetras get eaten so you wasted money, all they do it hide, so your stressing out the fish and wasting money, or they are too fast for your piranhas and just cause them to slam into decor and tank walls. none of these possibilities seem too appealing, lol. but who knows if they are well fed and big enough it may be all right.

i figured the neons would survive only because in the amazon they all live together, but i was wrong. i never stress out my fishes for my pleasure :nilly:
