I never said serras have weak jaws... and there are alot of fish with less capable dentition that can bite a goldfish in half, if the goldfish is of sufficiently small size. Pygos have substantially more muscle and more strength in the jaws nonetheless.

Interesting. Do you think the difference is that substantial?

Is there anything with a stronger jaw than a pygo pound for pound do you think?

I've never read anything, but speculating I'd say triggerfish and puffers might be contenders. I'm sure there's a number of other fish im not aware of that might be in the running too.

Even though they are lean, I think the bite of snakeheads/wolves/ATFs are underrated.

They can chop big fish clean in half with 1 bite.

and some fish can swim at speeds exceeding 5 miles per hour

I honestly haven't heard of anyone proclaiming various predatory fish to have weak bites, or "underrating" them.

5 miles an hour? That's barely walking speed :D

Well when I say underrating I mean peeranyas, triggers and puffers seem to be the only contenders when it comes to bite power - yet evidence I've seen of wolf/WTF/snakehead bites look just as lethal as anything I've seen.

Because those fish swallow fish whole generally, people sometimes don't realize how hard they bite.

The snakehead I used to have would bite fish in half that were almost as big as him.

And my little channa, only 4.5 inches has taken proper chunks out of fish.
