aight guys i need ur help fast! i started off wit 10 2inch pirayas in a 180g... i had lost 1 a month ago but i found 2 dead today!! im really pissed about it. the thing is i have 3 that r a lot bigger (about 4inch) than the rest so they keep attacking them... my idea is to use my separator and divide both groups till the small ones get bigger. this way the small ones will be able to eat in peace. thats where i need your help... is it a good IDEA?! i was thinkin givin 60% of the tank to the bigger ones and 40% to the smaller ones. what do u guys think cuz i need to do soemthing! u all no that theyre pretty expensive...

thanx

I think that sounds like a pretty good idea. Or you could always get them their own grow out tank. Or just sell the aggressors.

nah... i really wanna keep them... u think the 3 bigger pirayas will do ok only together. cuz i heard small groups dont do well.

another thing is put lots of hiding placesfor the small ones
plants driftwood

also try adding target fish
fast swimming fish for the big one's to bully

No hiding spots !! Makes for territory disputes .......
Leave tank wide open and put them on a schedule , ,
Lights , Feedings , Even clean the tank the same way every week left to right or what ever . Good luck .

I disagree with master.k. if you put your p's on a schedual they will come to expect it and any deviation for that schedual will cause fin nipping/fighting. Lots of hiding places, you can try lowering the temp a bit or keep them well fed.

I actually kind of agree with no hiding spot. my old rhom always hides when I provided tons of hiding spots, plants, driftwoods, you name it.
Once I removed most of the plants and driftwoods and it became less skittish and actually swimming around the tank even when I'm in front of the tank taking pics.

Was the rohm solo?? because that would make a difference when having a tank with no hiding places. Baho is having problems with the bigger p's beating on the smaller p's so having no hiding spots would leave the smaller fish vaunerable.

Yes the rhom was solo, you can only keep rhom solo.
with Baho's issue I would suggest to separate them and power feed the smaller ones until they catch up on size.
adding hiding spot doesn't help to beef them up as they will always be hiding.
just add some ditchers such as silver dollar together with the larger ones so that they can have something else to pick on instead of themselves.
