Thanks piranha45 for sharing that info with me. I really do appreciate that. I don't have a digital camera yet. But how do I go about getting the picture from the camera to my desktop?
Thanks for baring with me and helping me.
read the camera's instructions... i don't have much experience with digital cameras, myself.

Thankyou all for your response. I have another question. I have a 220gal tank is it possible to keep the caribes and the pirayas together?
Thanks for your inputs.

Oh yeah...Go for it man. Mixed pygo shoals are awsome.

really depends on how much $$ you are willing to dish out for the pirayas...

10-12 fish would work in a 220.

5 caribas 5 pirayas 2 natts if you have the $$ to burn

if not, then maybe 7 caribas 3 natts 1 piraya...

really doesn't matter what combo you get... you may find the pirayas are going to burn a hefty hole in your pocket though.

Nice recommendations. ^^^ I myself love the mixed pygo shoals...

Instead of 3 natts, you might want to try 3 super reds/wild reds, as they will probably be less skittish & more aggressive. Then again, these are more $$...

And yes, pirayas are awesome but pricey...And when they get to sub-adult to adult size...they are absolute MONSTERS...

In your opinions which piranha is more aggressive the piraya or the caribe? I'm trying to decide on which one to get. I want the most agressive.
Thanks for your opinions.

Imo...as stated earlier...they are pretty much equal as far as temperment goes.
I would get a mixed shoal if you cant really decide...Get them at the same or around the same size. You want to introduce them into the tank altogether.

I've had experience with both...but NOT in the same tank...2 different occassions rather:

When I had (5) baby (1.5-3") Cariba in a 75G, they quickly shoaled together & stayed as a pack...After a few hrs introducing them into their new homes...they were just abosulute little killers. Always hungry, I fed them numerous types of fish (cod fillet, tilapia, smelt), shrimp....Once a week, theyd get a suprise meal...like a convict or a lrg comet...When they reached 6" they ate ANYTHING that went into the tank...It made quick work of 1 10-15" salt water cuda...& a 15-20" bluefish...They ate the cuda as if it were a feeder...The blue on the other hand was a different story...It actually fought back at my P's...unreal...Nevertheless, within 15 min...he was reduced to a head & tail...

As far as the (3) 5" Pirayas that I had...these guys took a little while to shoal together...they were sooo greedy when it was feeding time...so make sure you have enough food to go around...They were super-aggressive & ate like pigs...awesome color on them...seemed to enjoy live fish a lot more than frozen/fresh fish...I guess previously all they ate was live?? I shouldve kept them in a larger tank, but thats my dumb fault...At aroundf 9-10", the alpha just flipped out 1 day and took a huuge chunk out of the smaller one...he didnt make it...

So to answer your question...And from my own personal experiences...they are both aggressive, as long as they are shoaled...I've found, the more in the shoal, the more aggressive & active theyll be...Make sure you have ample room too...as you dont want them to be too stressed & turn on one another. Keep them well fed, especially when babies-juvis.

Thanks gang for your input. I ended up getting eleven caribes 1.5"-2" from shark aquarium. I have a 220 gal tank. They didn't have the pirayas in that size. The smallest they had were 4'' at that time and I didn't want to get them that big.
However my caribes are doing very well. They are growing nicely. Extremely active and always looking to eat. As soon as I get a digital camera I'll be posting pics to share.

had a gold for quite some time. tried to put him with other types of fish, on several occasions. He would just tear everything to shreds. I would rather have a tank of South american cichlids if your looking for aggression.
