About ten years ago a lady caught a piranha in a small river that I swam in during the summer. About a the size of a guy's hand. What temp's can they tolerate? The water temp was maybe pushing 70 Deg F?
I am almost 100% that , that could not be possible.. if you where there are saw the fish yourself while she was catching it then maybe .. but other wise there is no way for it to survive in water that cold.. min is about 72. and at that temp the fish becomes very very lethargic!
I do not think min is 72 degrees. My girlfriend is from Paraguay and down there it gets cold during the winter and they have piranhas! However I do not believe a P could overwinter in MN waters.
dont know but hey found some p's here in ontario canada a few years back the waters cool but i dont think they would survive the winter unless they can hibernate
