when ever my fish get ich (usually when i buy new fish) i double up air suppie double up filtration if it ainte already. add a lil Aquria salt raise tem to 86 and wait and hope for the best. maybe your parameters were a lil bad? to hard of water? to high nitrate? the possiblilities can go on.

but that sucks man =( i know how u feel.

If you are near Dallas, my 4 pbass are up at the Dallas North Aquarium in the main display tank. They have some babies every now and then.

Yeah im in N. Dallas. My family has spent alot of money at DNA. Ive seen those Pbass before, they helped inspire my desire to have some lol

Im positive I know what I did wrong with these little ones, so ive got 2 new little ones on the way. Ive never really had problems keeping fish in the past, and I havent changed much of what I do, so outside of this bone head mistake I should get it right this time. If I fail this time, its gonna be costly to say the least.

I was at DNA about 3 weeks ago and I can assure you that there are no pbass in any display tank. They must have gotten an offer they couldn't refuse. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

sorry man, thats a shame. p-bass are notorious as babies for haveing troubles with ich, and theeffect ich has on them. every one that i've ever had die from ich died under identical conditions, one minute they're fine, then bam! nothing you can do.
baby p-bass are relatively sensitive just like most cichlid fry. so, you must be sensitive to their condition and watch what you treat them with. as all fry are, baby p-bass are sensitive to malachite green, which is what rif ich is, so soemthing less harsh must be used. anything rated for keeping eggs and fry fungus free is ok. my personal favorite is methaline blue because the dosage can be up to trippled on all but the most sensitive species. also theres a chlorine distilate made by wardley that i had very good success with when i used it on eggs and fry, i've never used it on p-bass though.
good luck next time

Yeah im on their special request list for some pbass, but the guy said that he hasnt seen any come through there in months. Thats a super nice store but they are really starting to favor the marine crowd alot more than us freshies.

this is how my 3 orinos I bought a while back died...=( i had many things running in my mind wondering why it died out of nowhere....you see them fine alittle bit and next thing you know its drop dead...my thoughts were,

-Possible Ich (instantaneously killed them) not likely
-PH level was abit too high standing on 7.5 (no driftwood)
-Ammonia levels (but I just did a water change the day before they died)
-possible pickup of already sick orinos?...

their was something fishy happening in my tank and I was not happy to find the hard to find in my area Orinos...>=( They were all eating and swimming fine and actively and not gasping and had a running oxygenating powerhead

Yeah it really really sucked. The two I just ordered are wild Orinos and lets just say I will be watching them almost as closely as I would watch a newborn child. Since the incident ive pumped the temp. up to 86, added a 3 ft. long bubble curtain, and removed the RTCxTSN that were their tank mates, to help reduce waste toxins and risk of getting eaten. My water is really stable, Ive checked it twice a day since then, and there have been no noticeable fluctuations in nitrates, nitrites, ph, kh, or gh. The only thing im mildly concerened with is the kh, its really low. But like I said before I havent seen any fluctuations in the ph or anything so im crossing my fingers and knocking on wood.

Tough lesson to learn. Sorry for the loss.
