what about insects that might land on the surface and feed?At my old house,every time I had an open fish tank it seemed like some type of larva would always end up in it.Just brain storming,ayways good luck next time.

Seeing that you are in india, i would say that chances are your fry was munched by insect such as Belostomatidae (water bug)

how can an apple snail catch a fish and eat it, at least thats what i thought
can apple snails catch fish, this really sounds almost stupid as i ask this question, but so many times before i have been baffled by the things that happen in our aquariums
and these fish are riverine fish and are quite fast, even in high flow

do these water bugs fly

my tank was kept in the third floor of my house where i have been keeping fish for quite a long time, have never seen any water bugs , near my tanks

those fry were from my very own pair and they already have a new clutch of eggs in their cave so in a few more days, yes i will be having more
