freshwaterfishing, I am very sorry that happened to you guys, it's tragic when somethign your trust does that. But as I've said in another thread, dogs are animals and they don't see things like people do.. Again, verry sorry, I hope your girl is ok.

What I must say though, is pit bull terriers can not "lock" their jaws, that is a myth, when they're trained to fight they're trained to hold on, but so are dogs who are in schutzhund.. any dog can be trained to hold on, I finally taught my pom mix to hang off of a rope, I think it's kind of funny watching her do that though.

Hi there i did some research and yes you are right that no dog comes with lock jaw that it is the training that makes them learn how to lock, which means whomever trains thier dog to lock in my eyes is wrong. Thats putting a childs life at risk. I know you said it looks funny seeing ur dog hang off a rope and even though its not a pit i dont think it will no longer be funny when the dog hangs either off a childs arm or leg. If anyone trains a dog to do that and if it happens where the dog is hanging off the child then it is no longer the dogs fault but the owners. Im so sorry i dont want to start anything ,its just after the experience i went through which seemed more like a horror movie my views have completly changed.

Hi there Liz and everyone else thats hoping Natasha is doing ok. Well she is doing alot better she has a couple of scars on her cheek now and one on her collar bone but the doctor said its the type that might take a couple years to heal but will eventually go away. He says its great cause babies heal quickly. What a scary thing to go through though. I forgot to mention aswell that the fowlling day after the attack it was like neither of them even remember what happened. We had gates blocking "rocky"from us and he just wanted in so bad and same with the baby wanting out to play with him. But theres to show it wasnt just a vicious attack, it was just a bad night and things happend at the wrong place and wrong time. Dogs should just not be anywhere around small children no matter how sweet and lovable they seem.

That's sad, was she that tiny(like in the pics) when he snapped at her? if so she's lucky a tooth didn't go through her throat. That must have been absolutely horrible, I freaked out when some strange dog was on my neice bting her, and I wasn't right for a few days after that, but I cannot even think of having our own trusted dog do that.

Well I must say, the dog in question really never leaves my side, and is well trained, she does not get out must so I try to give her as many games as possible. I cannot take her out because she is so small and people around here think its funny to set their dogs(any kind) on others.
I'm not defending myself, I haven't had her do it for a long time, since I realized what I had taught her wasn't good.

I was watching a video on TV of a police dog who got carried away, they couldn't call him off and he was tearing the man's leg off, all the police were doing were yelling at the guy.

No she wasnt that little but little enough. It happened two month ago which would put natasha at 7 months old. The only reason i think rocky didnt do much damage either was the fact this dog had no fangs due to a fall when he was a pup. Where the scare is on her collar bone looks like if he did have those teeth then he would have snapped her collarbone. Thank God that didnt happen.

Well that's lucky, huh? I really feel for you.. it's a good thing you are such a protective parent, if you had just left the room for a minute or two you may not have her.
I freaked out one day when I saw that my friend's parents had left their 3 grandchildren at home alone with 2 american bulldog mixes(they called them pits, but I don't think so at all), 1 husky mixed with their bully dog, and an inbred from the mom mating with her pup form the first litter.
I stayed over there with them for 3 hours.. had one of those little kids done something to one of the dogs(when I got there 2 of them were sitting on the inbred one, who was prone to snapping becasue of his mental problems) and been attacked God knows how many would he probably DIED.
The parents said they left them alone because the dogs would protect them while they were on a date :irked: these kids were 4, 5 and 7.

Omg that is just crazy if one child happened to get one dog to attack then just instinct all the dogs would have attacked all the children.Sorry but those parents are retarted. Def just to leave children at the age home alone. Anyways back to your pics of pitts!

My thoughts exactly.. The kids would have very, very little chance of living if the dogs got carried away.
Oh, and get this, the kids rarely come over, so these dogs didn't really know them.

I'll upload some when I can.. gotta go clean up after all of my animals for now.

I saw the goofiest pit when I was driving the other day. It was hanging its head out of the passenger's window, mouth open, tongue hanging out, just smiling at me. I cracked up after looking at it for 5 seconds! I wish I took a picture of it.

Yeah, they're famous for their smiles, and wiggling their butts until you think they might break in half. I know one who actually shows her teeth in a smile, not having her mouth open, and wiggles.

This is Tyson, I have 2 pictures of him in the first post, but he recently died, very sweet boy.
He was sort of dumped on me, I had been taking care of him for a few months in a back yard where he lived 9 years on a chain. He had no house at the time(winter), his bucket of food was actually SOUR smelling with mold and they still gave it to him, and he was in about 2" a packed down crap, which he had no choice but to sleep on at night.
His owner went to jail for god knows what, the man had a horrible temper and yelled at me for no stinking reason because I had bought the dog a collar and lead that would not strangle him. His own kids told me that he beat Tyson whenever he was mad at them. The crack heads next door sent their dog after him one day, his mouth was taped shut. Then his owners' mom moved and left him for me, I was 12 at the time. It only took about 2 weeks to find him a forever home, he went to a foster at first in DC to keep him from being taken by animal control, where he lived with a female pit for a while, then to his owners. He lived with ferrets, dogs and kids, they said he let the ferrets play with him. And they sent pictures of him sleeping with the kids, and just being happy, he died after about 3 years with them from cancer, but at least he was happy in his last days. He was a real sweet heart..

MFK is messing up for me, but I'll post his pics later.

Here's Ty, My whole computer is messed up, so I have to use an IMG code from photobucket.
