Yep, I've said it before, I know of 5 people within 1/8 mile of me who breed mutt-looking pits. Short, thick, big headed, bow legged dogs.
But I don't think the real ones (like the ones at matrix kennels) should be bred until we have the population under control.
Technically they are about the same thing, American Staffordshire terriers were given the name because the AKC thought the name American Pit Bull Terrier was not good.
They were bred as the 'showy' lined pits, staffies were the ones pulled from the pit and just bred for temperament and looks. Pits were bred for Temperament.
