Here's my setup for these shots:
Canon 5D mark 1
Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 which I bought used for $260
Canon 430EX II bounced off ghetto white plastic rain gutter
Flash triggered wirelessly by Canon STE-2


For fishes I usually have my flash set at full power and shutter speed at 200. Depending on if I need more or less lights I just adjust the aperture aka f-stop.

Tried a few shots on shelldwellers and black ruby barbs. Not as good as my sigma when it comes to closeup on smaller fishes but it's to be expected.
