You will have better luck with Silver Dollars. Danios are fast, but grammodes are excellent predators and will eventually catch the danios. This usually happens at night.

I was going to recommend these, but my experience with them is that they're SUPER skittish and if you walk towards the tank at anything faster than a crawl they dart for cover

Giant danios may have to be my next candidate, i just want to see the grammmodes leave his pipe!

Those just make the most Sense to me. I would stock as many as the setup would allow. The larger the school, the more alert they will be and thus they will last longer.
And if some gets eaten? Who Cares! their a buck a pop. they are hardy and easy enough to breed that You can set up your own supply of them.

I have a shoal of 11 that has cycled every setup that I own ATM. I have Fry that I wish would die.

And by the way... I see nothing wrong with what You are doing, Or the premise of this thread. If anyone finds fault with You being entertained by Your predatory fish then perhaps they should find another site/

Saturday, decided to try giant danios, none at the shop so i got 6 tiger barbs and 3 bala sharks.
I now have 2 tiger barbs remaining
I might try growing some out for a few months...

As a side note small balas and tiger barbs seem to shoal together well

The tiger barbs perished shortly after the previous post.
On a side note, i bought a mixer and now spend alot of time in front of the tank. This has resulted in a marked improvement in his social skills.
