Can someone reply ASAP? i'm gonna clean my tank take the gravel out, change the water and everything.. should i take out my fishes and put in a small tank for a hour or so ? or should i just leave them in there while i do the things with the tank?
and if i put them in a small tank will they fight? i have
1 Black arowana - 6/7 inch
2 snake head - 4 inch
2 knife fish - 4/5 inch
2 spotted gar - - 4/5 inch
2 Polypterus - 3 inch
Thanks, but the tannin came from Peat which I have since stop using
Driftwoods are treated by soaking in boiling water for 5 days, tannin fully leached away
I just move the pieces one by one and vacuum under them as I go, then put each one back down somewhere out of the way. Sometimes I'll put them into a bucket, but usually I make a little pile inside the actual tank. The catfish scurry to hide in the new pile, but then I just end up putting it back where it was within a few minutes and everybody gets their homes back. Never seen any evidence of stress from this.
i removed all the gravel and decorations .. i'm not planing to put any sand or anything else cause i have a problem ... my base of the tank is so dirty with all the dirt! why can't my external fliter wont suck it up?!

Thats the main problem of gravel. Dirt gets accumulated in between the space of the gravels. Thats why you need to vac your gravel to remove the dirt away. This isn't the problem with sand as sand pack so tightly, dirt cant fall through. As to why your external filter won't pick them up, it is because the dirt have already settled in the gravel bed. You need a power head to keep them from suspended in water long enough to reach the intake of your filter.
