Planaria worms......dang

They are not planaria. They are nematodes. Reduce feeding to control their population.
 
Yes, and because their bodies are round, not flat. And because they are two entirely different families of worm. Only a few types of planaria can swim, but they are very large and look more like sea slugs. Virtually all species of aquatic planaria must crawl on flat surfaces or might be seen floating gently downward after falling off of something. They are also often red, brown or yellow. Nematodes, however, have very little mass and can easily corkscrew through water, and range from white to clear in most cases. Aquarists apparently do not care for worm study and have, as a whole, taken to calling many free-living worms in a tank 'planaria'. It's quite disturbing and always rubs me the wrong way. At least know what animal you're dealing with. Planaria make neat pets, btw.
