Planaria???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I dont know what it is, but from what I have seen planaria is normally free floating in the water, maybe a couple on the glass above the water line and tiny, like cat hairs that squiggle around. Those look like they are attached to the glass in on specific area......If someone more experienced knows ? maybe they are planaria and what I have is something different but I dont think.

tiny snails? try a closer pic... your tank is FW right? if it is use a puffer to rid them. If it's SW use a trigger or a cowfish (or not) to rid them.

BTW if you chop planaria in half they make a new themselves - they reproduce asexually - AKA choping themselves up to make more of themselves!

By definition.... a parasite lives in or on another organism... So since whatever it is you have is living on the glass, it's not a parasite...

Since the photo you shared with us includes the pest as well as uneaten food... I think the original suggestion of feeding less is your best solution...

Planaria very often clings to the glass below the water line... but I agree the pests in the picture do not look like planaria... without a closer picture I doubt anyone could offer a reliable ID...

Im cant ID from the pic, but look up water hydra..then look at you pest to see if they match. Hydra are pretty common to grow on the glass. Like I said, I am not trying to ID from the pic, just offering a suggestion as to what they could be.

i vote planaria or a flatworm type.

ive seen both types hide out in spots on the glass that havent been cleaned
