well to answer some questions. first off i know that this fish gets well over the size for a hundred gal pond! i have been studying, and trying to find this fish for more than 7 years. Both of my ponds are indoors. They are both located in my basement, and the 100 gal is just a growout that I set up for this fish alone until he gets to a good enough size to go in the big pond with my other fish. it will go in my 6ft. dia 350 gal pond when he is big enough to hang with the big boys. And when that is no longer big enough I have a 750 gal pond in the works. Hope that answers some questions and if not i will just have to post some pics of the bigger pond so you guys can see what he will be living in, in a few more months. I live in montana so I wouldn't think of having any pond outside here. The temps drop to like -40 f. during the winter, and that is just during an average cold snap. My ponds stay about 80f right now, during the winter slightly cooler. thanks for all the compliments, and for the guy who wanted some info on this catfish go to www.catfishplanet.com and look up sorubimicthys planiceps or the firewood catfish on any picture search for more pics. I have read reports of them over 6ft. in the wild, but the largest I have heard of in captivity is about 4 1/2ft-5 ft. Mine was $220 with shipping, $120 without shipping. It was worth it though. Hoping to get him to eat tonight! Hope he likes shrimp or krill!
by the way i know 6ft dia doesn't sound too big, but you are talking about a round tub not a squar box. If you look at the pic of my pond from the top there is 1 16" fish, 1 19" fish, 1 21" fish, and 1 28" fish. Hard to see them all right? Cause they got plenty of space. the biggest rock in there is 3 ft. long and wieghs nearly 200 lbs.
