Personally I am very happy with the 300 that I purchased from Glass Cages. The tank and the service were both top notch and I couldn't be happier with the tank.

This is what I wanted to hear. The tank I'm getting is 240 it should be alright too and for $600+ and only $400 for a stand (I'm not even gonna try to build one haha) I think it's a good price overall.

Glass will be cheaper than acryllic at that size.

Just based on weight.. yeah acrylic beats glass.. But every Acrylic tank I've worked with within' 1 years gets scratched to all heck and looks like crap. So depending on what your stocking, and what you putting into it. Glass has never scratched as badly as acylic in my experence and I have some tanks that my father gave me. Haven't even had to reseal the 55, and it looks almost brand spankin' new w/ abit of elbow grease.

How much would a 300 gallon glass tank weigh?

And how much would the same size acrylic tank weigh?

My glass 300 weighs approximately 650 pounds. An acrylic 300 can be carried by two people.

I too am planning on ordering a glass 300 from glasscages.

I couldn't be happier with mine. My only regret is that I went with acrylic tops instead of glass tops. I need to get some glass tops cut for it locally before too long. The acrylic tops warp and you have to flip them every week or two.

There will be some excess tape and silicone on the tank, nothing a razor blade can't fix in the matter of a few minutes though. They also write the date the tank was manufactured on the glass, that takes less than five minutes to remove. For the amount of money I saved by going with them it was well worth the little bit of work I had to do.

I know its random, but if ur lookin for a deal on tanks, u could check craigslist everyday. I do it all the time and u would be surprised at what goes up. that is if u dont mind having a used tank or putting some work into it. most of the time its worth the deal though. Most that are there are like 55's and 60's but at least once a week i see a 240 or 300. i guess it also depends where u are located though.

Around here I might see a decent tank on CL once a year if I was lucky. CL isn't that big around here yet. Large tanks aren't very common either.
