Hi all, I have always wanted i bigger tank and now i can get it. At first i wanted a 55 gallon for some time but i fiquered that bigger is always better right? So i got a quote at my local fish store for what a brand new 75(48x18x20)($177,on sale), 90(48x18x24)($302), and 125(72x18x22)($412) would cost. Now naturally i would go for the 125, but the width is all the same for all three tanks, so is there really all that big of a difference in what TYPE of species i could keep? And is the extra $130 for a 90 gallon really worth the extra 4 inches high? Also as far as filtration goes i was thinking 2 AC110, and 1 rena XP3 would be sufficent for each of the 3 tanks, am i totally wrong? Well thats all for now, and I look forward from hearing from all you.

it all depends on you stock. a 125 is good and a lot of fish can fit in it.

Yeah but with the width of the 125, does it offer a larger biodiversity of critters than the 75? Or just the same critters, but more of them?

It really depends on if you want a community tank or specimen tank, I would go for a couple of Oscars and a fish or two that can defend itself. The Oscars are great fish and get to know their owners and are very intelligent. They will however eat smaller tank-mates a 90 gallon tank will house two nicley. They will give you years of enjoyment.

Well to be honest i really have not made up my mind, there is way too many cool fish out there to choose from! But I am especially interested in Pbass and dats, or some kind of pike, gar or crenichichla. I was also thinking of some kinda of cat fish, i would love a lima but i realize that all these tanks are far too small for one of those. So maby a pictus(or some other large/medium sized catfish) and a birchir or two for the bottom(possibly a clown loach or two and a pleco). I realize that lima's, dats and Pbass get too big, but i heard silver dats might be small enough for a 75gallon+ tank. As you can probably tell i have not made my mind up but i do have sort of an idea of what i want.

Well with the 125 i wouldnt have alot of extra wiggle room as far as $$ goes. unless the species selection is far greater in the 125 compared to the 90 then i will probably just go with the 90 (or 75) to save a bit of money. It really is hard picking out tanks lol.

a nice African tank for a 125gal would be nice.
