Hi, I'm a bit overstocked in my 100 gal, so I want to increase my filtration, Im currently running a eheim 2217 canister and a resun 2500sp internal filter.

I want another filter, but dont want to spend a lot since, I should probably be getting a bigger tank.

I was thinking about a HOT magnum 350, or for symmetric's sake another 2217, which could be a bit more expensive. What do you think?

I would prefer something that sits outside the tank, but I may also consider another internal filter.

suggestion's please

I like canisters. Since you have eheim, and like them, perhaps stay within the family. I run Rena xp filters. I have them all, 1 - 4. If I want to swap sizes around, all I have to do is disconnecf and move the main body. You might consider something like that with your setups. It makes portability that much easier.

xp3 is a win!! i hear bad things about the 4... but 1-3 is a win!! also i have never ran one but i know some people will suggest it... you ever think about running a sump? that's always an option....

Yeah, but I dont know if I should try making one myself, and the ones you can buy are just as expensive.

Also, to install the overflow I will have to cut a gap in the canopy I have right now, not too hard, but I will prefer something I can just install.

Still if you know of a not too expensive sump I can try, I take suggestions

Same problem as with an overflow, I would have to modify my lid. thats why I would prefer internal or canister.

But still this one looks good, on amazon it says " nitrate remover sold separately" I wonder what that means?

My sump cost a total of $150ish ($120 was for the pump, I run a Quiet-1 6000). I had an old 30 gallon tank, and a plastic drawer style storage unit from Walmart. Top drawer is scrubbies (bio) and the second is sponge/bio media and porous rock. Works great.
