Planning stage for 300 to 450 gallon, could use a hand!

"2.5 ft tall - maybe 3. the glass for that is going to be high as hell. when u go up from 1/2" to 3/4" it pretty much doubles in price"

I'd consider a 3 foot tall tank with 6" (or so) of wood frame top and bottom. Making a 26ish" sheet by 1/2" thick feasible.

i went 25" tall. but my window is going to be around 21" i would have to go messure it, and im rollin' 1/2". i wanted taller but priced the glass @ 560$ and said @$%& that!

I agree with the go wider. Stay at 24-25" deep but go 30-36" wide. Gives you the volume without the pressure of a deeper tank. Less expensive glass.

So if I go upwards of 10 feet long, 2.5 to 3 feet wide, and 25 inches tall the 1/2 inch glass would work?

well i think i got your cad thing pretty much done. im not quiet sure how to show how long everything is. may have to email it to someone so they can add to it and then show it to you. your going to have to download google sketch up to veiw it in 3D and see every little bit of it. i first did the plywood, the plywood is whats 10' x 2.5' x 25" then i added a 2x4 lumber frame around it, and also added 2x2's on the inside of the plywood for a frame to hold the glass. that might be optional i dunno. i need to see what i can change on it here and there.
