plans for my pond filter

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Try a local restaurant supply that deals in wholesale foods. They order in quantity (55g) and break it down to sell to smaller businesses.

I had several that held apple juice, didn't harm anything, but took forever for the smell to go away :D.

lol i'll try that. thanks for your help so far.

Car dealerships will sometimes order their car wash soap in 55gal drums as well. Talk to the service manager and they might let you grab one for the cost of the deposit.

water butts for rain water work well . ive got one on my pond and it blends in ok (green )compared to my old black box . sure you could get a discount for buying like 6 .

you like a rain barrel or collector?. thanks for the ideas.

ok thanks guys. well would that work for a tank because we might move somtime in the near futuer so i want somthing i can take with me. it would be around 1200-1800gallons. sorry for the usdden change.

Evern for only 1,200 - 1,800 gallons you'll probably still need at least two 55 gallon drums. You could plumb the skimmer and bottom drain circuit to the first 55 gallon. I'm make that one a rotating VMS (vortex micro screen). That will be your mechanical filtration portion. I'd have that go over to a second one and have some sort of bio there. Then I'd pump back up to the pond. You could add a flower pot trickle tower in the pond for additional help.

Good luck,

Steve.

You can order large plastic trashcans here that are 400 gals. They are round, and that's what we put our garbage in, but I always thought if I had a huge pond I'd get one for a filter.

That would be perfect for a settlement chamber.
