t-bars can probably get pretty nippy they are a CA cichlid...congo's are nice...p.s. ba tetras are real nice for an active crowd (like yours)

ahh thats too bad...around here in ny they used to go on sale for $3.50 all the time.
Lf serpae are a contradiction of themselves, they are a fin nipping species with perfect fins to nip... Also probably won't get big enough to avoid the bichirs. You want fish that doesn't sleep on the bottom. A school of tiger barbs, rosy barbs, Odessa barbs, golden barbs, etc, could work also.
I like the Congo tetra as well... Usually a bit pricey though.
Try to find some apistos, basically same care as rams and they look equally as good.
