chico ,california
in my dads tank,i have 2 plants that are growing black fibers that look like pubic hair .does anyone know what this is?i cant post a pic yet but i will soon

i dont know what kind of plant it is.there r 2 of them, only one has the hair.there is another plant of a different species that has it too, just not as bad.also i saw a couple of fibers on my sword

True SAE's(Siamese algae eater) will eat black hair algae. Do not buy the Chinese algae eater (sometimes sold as SAE's), they don't really eat a lot of algae and get big and mean!

Another is Amano shrimp, and labeos also do a good job of eating hair algae. Only problem with labeo bicolor is the aggressiveness, but that can be dropped with a large school of them.
