Banana plants are very easy, hardy and, survive in lower light level situations. Inexpensive too.

I have a 36g with 48w, use seachem flourish root tabs, flourish and flourish excel(no CO2). Swords, Java fern, Java moss, anubias, onion plants, and tiger lotus are all thriving. Wisteria also did good but it was thick and collected a lot of waste so I fed it to fish in another tank.

here is the tank after a good trimming

you might need more wattage if you plan to grow anything besides java ferns, banana plant. i have a 72 that i dont use c02 on and it looks good.
