fat part at the bottom. No you should never completely cover a rhizome. Tie to anything. With anubias it doesn't even matter if it's in water, they will grow both ways. The entire anubias family is easy to grow, just toss it in. If you have bright lights it's better the shield them with some floating plants as since they are such slow growers the leaves will get a lot of algae growth on them.

Are you referring to the floating plants? If so, they have roots to absorb nutrients in the water column. They do absorb nitrates but still are not substitutes to water changes.
