is it even possible and if so which types work better with heavily planted aquascaping.? if possible any examples of aquariums would be excellent

I tried a moderately planted aquarium with a 15" endlii. He uprooted everything. I'm in the process of trying java fern tied to driftwood, and the endlii and the ornates are tearing it up, and it's not even in the substrate or on the tank floor!!

I know that Uwe keeps bichirs in heavily planted tanks, maybe he'll pop in for a comment.

everyone said no plants with oscars and texas cichlids and i made it happen. just thought i would ask here. thanks for the patience as i am new to ancient fish. haha

Thank you very much for the kind words Deaths Sting, it's a cool feeling to have a nod of respect from my fellow fish keeper :)

To the OP, ou might notice that the plants in each of those videos change a bit, because I didn't have luck with the vallisneria type plants, or anything with delicate thin leaves.

What has worked best for me so far are various sword plants which are doing pretty good, besides the festivums picking at them :irked:

I have my polys in a planted tank and they love it. They rest in the leaves and seem to enjoy the feeling of swimming through them. I think I have had good luck with the plants because the plants were well rooted before I had any polys in the tank. I also think you would be ok if your polys are small when you are first planting.
