Thank you very much for the kind words Deaths Sting, it's a cool feeling to have a nod of respect from my fellow fish keeper :)

To the OP, ou might notice that the plants in each of those videos change a bit, because I didn't have luck with the vallisneria type plants, or anything with delicate thin leaves.

What has worked best for me so far are various sword plants which are doing pretty good, besides the festivums picking at them :irked:

ur welcome! :D

I have a senegal bichir in a planted tank and he hasn't messed with any of it yet.

there's an adorable scene of a Senegal trying to eat a piece of tilapia.

3:50 - 4:02 made me LOL - cute..

I never heard of bichirs tearing up planted tanks. Not saying that it hasn't happened but as far as I know they love planted tanks and as stated love to hide in the leaves to ambush it's prey.

I had some floating plants and they would always be sitting on the top of them.

My plants are fake but the senegal absolutely loooooves to hide and wiggle through the plants. He likes his densely plant section in the middle of the 125. I'm sure other larger bichirs would make a mess and uproot them but a senegal would work nicely.

so whats a senegal and a bichir differences. im trying a new set up and am fascinatied with this type of fish.

Search for some of uwe's old threads. He's certainly the resident planted bichir tank expert. Its something I want to try when i replace my main display tank but I haven't taken the plunge yet.

"bichir" is a common name for any of the polypterus species. senegals, endlis, delhezis etc are all types of bichirs. Check out the primer sticky for moe info
