Hey guys,

When I first got my pygos I had a bare tank with a live plants only. They were very active and swam all over the place. But after getting dw pieces, they seem to become more calm but more skittish. I mean they were skittish in the bare tank but they were more active and constantly swimming. I'm going to take all my dw and see how they act. But will add them back once I get my 210 because it's going to have ALOT of space. Maybe its too crowd in the 80 right now..More space without dw

they acted pretty much the way i expected them too. prob will start swimming around more again.

I wouldn't sacrifice their comfort for your viewing pleasure! They appreciate dw and plants, without them they have no place to hide....when their sub adults they won't mind as much, but as young teens their super twitchy.

I removed the dw pieces because imo, they had limited space to move freely. At first they were stressed because their "spots" were gone but after a day, they were more active and seemed happier to me. Like balling said, they swim more and dont really hide anymore. Once I get me 210, I will the hardscape in a fashion which doesn't limit space even though its 3x the tank size right now. I dont know, they seem more happy or maybe it was cause they were hungry LOL. BUt they dont even hide (although skittish at times) and swimming all over the place ^.^

Trying to invest my money in another fx5 right now. Powerhead is next on the list. Where do you position yours?

I move my around to change up the dead spots. Different ends of the tank but toward the top is where my rhom prefers it. Always playing in it.

Still planning on an fx5 over building a sump? Be cheaper if you've got a budget

Will a wet/dry system be cheaper? If it is I will definitely go with that choice!

depends on howyou go about it. A diy sump can be cheaper. A fx5 will be easier. I run an Fx5 on my tank with my cariba with no issues with my parameters. If you got the cash money, get a eheim 2262 and buckets and buckets of seachem matrix to fill it. That filter will manhandle anything you can reasonably house in a 210.

I put my powerheads near the surface. Its all bout surface agitation IMO. The water current travels fast along the top then broad and smoothly the bottom part of the tank.
