Planted jaguar tank??

Are jags known for digging? What type of plants could work in a jag tank? Some personal expieriences would be appreciated!! Thanks.

IME no plants will survive long term with a jaguar they always seem to destroy them but maybe you can try a few hardy plants

jags are the biggest diggers, sometimes they will dig almost the who day to get the gravel to their liking, they do it just incase a female comes along so they can mate in the "nest" they dig, its instincts, ur plant are DONE. even fake ones will be uprooted

Mine digs constantly. She tolerates plastic plants but still puts them where she wants eventually. She moves an amazing amount of sand and rocks.

From my experience plants get destroyed unless theyre plastic.

The only thing that MIGHT work is some Java fern or anubis tied on some driftwood or rock.

+1 i've had success with plants that are grown on bogwood ,forget about anything planted in the substrate jag love to dig.

Either tie some off to drift wood or get some floating lillys , big heavy pots also work basically take away the option to dig

I had to chuckle. I saw the title and the first thing that literally LEAPED into my head was, "good luck with THAT!"

If you want plants and don't care if they are real, some of the silk plants look great. Go to Michael's or some other home decorating/hobby store. You can buy long strands of Philodendren and other ivy in long strings. I just put it in the tank and it drapes across whatever it falls. Looks great. If you have seen any of my photos...NONE of those are real. Now..if you want real plants..get another tank without cichlids. Most of the cichlids will chew, tear up dig out or destroy plants.

Yea a jag with plants is pretty impossible.. Best thing you could do is to add some floating plants. Plants on the water surface can prevent the fish from jumping, and also provide a neat watersurface
