What kind of plants can I put in a tank that is going to have discus in it? And how heavily planted can it be? I need to get a few plants that are easy to take care of as I've never had a planted tank before.

Plants like java fern, anubias, jungle vals, amazon swords etc. are very easy to keep, and does well in low light environments. Not sure if discus has specific plant requirements, but the plants I mention are easy to keep.

Imo Amazon swords is the best choice. Discus like hiding behind the leaves and they're easy to maintain. Good luck.

Planted tanks are awesome for bigger discus . Wouldn't do small discus you have to feed them to much it would be a hassle to clean every other day

About 15. Most people have 1 discus per 10g. Have you kept discus before?

No this is my first time, I've never liked the idea of handling delicate fish but after a break from fishkeeping I feel like I want to give it a shot. The water is really hard in my area and Im going to get RO unit, not sure which one I should get. Do you guys know of anything suitable?

What are your water parameters, and are you keeping wild or tank-bred discus?

Very soft, acidic water is not a necessity when raising them out. Discus being delicate is a bit of a myth, IMO. They just require different things.

Vals will be the easiest to keep and fast growing. Swords are good but need more feeding. Water will depend on where you get the discus from. Around here we still have people who swear they only thrive and breed in soft black water and others who are breeding in the local water which is very hard. Good luck and good to see you back.
