Planted tank for discus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Think about the higher water temperatures you will have to keep discus in and avoid those plants that seem to "melt" in too warm water. Research EACH plant you intend to keep, paying specific attention to it's highest tolerable temperature. Some common aquarium plants thrive in cooler waters.

Some very good points raised guys thanks. Will have to look more at what plants Im going to use! well I do hope they are a bit more hardy, I'm going for captive bred discus, not wild. The water in London is very hard.

Make sure to use full grown 5-6" fish in a planted tank. anything smaller needs to be fed 6-7 times a day to get good growth out of them and will quickly make a mess of a planted tank.

Swords, anubias, java fern and java moss are best plants to use.
