Planting in a RTC tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
anubias and java ferns will probably survive your RTC, but I doubt you will be able to fit enough in there to really effect the water quality.

Reaaly? How much do you think id need?

Its not that...its just that those plants are slow growers. Your best bet is to use floaters...or in your sump. If you have a large enough sump its super easy to do a hydroponics raft. Keep your h2o clean, and give yourself some lettuce while you are at it. PM me if interested in that...I have some good tips...supplies to do what you need to do.

i ran out and got a few plants from petsmartyesterday, a couple broad leafed plants, that resemble anubias and some grasses. Ill have some pictures up soon so that you guys can help me identify them. I had some marble used as threshhold in bathroom and put that in the tank to kind of setup a flowerbed for them. so far theyve lasted through the night and my RTC is leaving them alone

heres those pictures i promised, there three typed pf plants in there but i dont know what they are

Those plants might look after a trio of guppies but an rtc would need a massive amount, even that tank filled to the absolute max with plants, plant substrate and co2 injection ain't gonna do diddly squat for a growing rtc.

As the other poster said, it doesn't matter as he will be in the 1000 gal in a few months.

What will you out him in eventually, when he out grows the 1000?

bigger tank, the pond just to hold him over until i get a house where i can put a big 5,000gal tank in the wall in the basement
