For your setup I'd use laterite. You can use pots, however expect stunted growth.born2lovefish;697399;697399 said:Which do you think is better? Flourite does not need to be rinsed at all. I use it straight out of the bag into the tank.---XR---;697420;697420 said:i have used florite, it works well, but HAS, to be rinsed out very well before useing, it's a very dirty substrate
A pot is going to restrict the amount of nutrients a plant can get. Amazons, which can have root systems touching all four sides of a 55 gallon, will have tough times with that planting style. 2 50/50 bulbs are still very low light.born2lovefish;697799;697799 said:Thanks. I think I will try to get a 55 oz box of it for my 40 gallon tank. If I use pots for the amazons I plan to put in the tank, I will be removing the bottom of the pots for the roots to grow. I will either do that or remove it and add some type of bottom to the pots that have spaces for roots to grow through. I'm hoping this will work. I'm still going to try to use 2 50/50 compacts on the tank... Let me know if you find any problems with my plans.
