My plans are to plant my 30gallon. The filter is a aqua clear 110, and I will use the yeast diy co2. I am unsure of what plants i want exactly but i do know i want some amazon swords, and java moss. So I was looking for plant recommendations and what bulb will to use for lighting. My stock will consist of 10-20 exodons, and crystal red shrimp. I know what your thinking it wont work. But my plan is to use the crystal red shrimp to mix up the exodons diets. So I will plant the tank first make sure everything is going well. Then I will introduce the crystal red shrimp, and I will breed them till I have about 300. Then I will introduce my exodons. If you have any suggestions or corrects feel free to post them! I will keep my progress shown too when i get started. :D

Can anyone help me wit the lightin prob?

Also i dont want to paint the bak of my tank so how can i give it a black backround without paint?

Get a large, black piece of paper and tape it to the back of your tank.

The lighting is the least of your worries.

1st. CRS will probably be wiped out when the exodons are introduced. if you plan to use live shrimp as feeders, you will need a second (5g) tank. And why use CRS rather than cheap ghost/glass shrimp?
Your claim that you're doing it to "mix up their diet" is complete BS. You can just as easily supplement with MP or FD shrimp/krill. Don't fool yourself.

2nd. The AC110 will gas off whatever Co2 you introduce, rendering it ineffective. You will have to constantly top off the tank to reduce this.
Not to mention, the plants you're adding don't need Co2 to begin with.
And considering the AC110 is made for tanks nearly 4x the size of yours, you will probably have trouble with the output disturbing the substrate and maybe even uprooting plants if you don't diffuse it.

As far as the lighting goes, it all depends on what plants you want. Java moss requires almost no light to grow, and the swords need very little.
First you need to go look at some plants and see what you want, and you can research their lighting requirements from there.

Ok, First off it was a idea from someoe and second im just tryin it i never said it will work. And I did not think that the filter wld do that. Also i am unsure of wht other plants i wld add to the tank then just those 2. And if i provide tons of places with plant cover for the shrimp to hide they will be able to breed still. Basically im settin this up like a real envioment. If u have places to hide any animal can still breed. Im gona make sure the shrimp are carryin babies too before i introduce the exodons. And if i have a high engh number of shrimp they wont all be killed in 10 seconds.

okay, what i thought you meant was a planted CRS tank in which they breed, and then another tank for the exos and then you take out the amount of CRS you want to feed to the exos and drop them in the tank. I wasn't aware you meant you wanted to keep the CRS in the exo tank. My bad.

well whoever "someone" was that gave you the idea, clearly does not know much about either of the species you plan to put in your tank.

how do you plan to set up a "real environment" with fish from the amazon and shrimp from asia? BAHAHAHAHAHAH. get real.

I get wht ur thinkin when i said real enviroment i never ment like a bio i ment more like how nature is. Imma still try this if i dont work ill still have exo's!!

Also i may do ghost shrimp instead
