Plants and driftwood, or Bare Bottom?

Thats what I'm afraid of.
The driftwood that is; I meen, if he gets spooked or something I dont want him bashing into the driftwood and uprooting all the plants if he really got spooked.
I want the tank to look nice with the plants but I dont want them to get all ripped up.

I'll have to check at walmart, last time I was there for fish supplies It was tubifex worms. Didnt know they sold sand. I really like the look of the black sand in a tank with a black background, Makes it look like the fish is emerging from the deep dark or something.

I dont think walmart sells it but petsmart does at a $20 for a 20lb bag.

Woops.
Ment to say Petsmart. I havent been there in a while either. I'll have to check it out.

Also, I'm thinking instead of a Gulper cat, doing maybe one or two Jaguar cats.
I'm having a hard time deciding.

Any tips on how to keep the plants down? I dont want to just put all of them on the piece of driftwood.
Still dont know if I'm gonna go for a gulper. I really like Jaguar Cats.
Could anyone reccomend some really nice looking cats/predatory cats that would work well in a tank size of 30''x16''x24'' LxWxH please?
Thanks...
