What is the best way to tie down a plant onto a piece of drift wood? I have fishing line but it seems way to difficult. Any siggestions?

It seems most people use fishing line or thin wire. What kind of plants are they? That might help people give you some ideas.

depending on the application.. fine mesh netting.. fishing line.. rubber bands.. really depends on what plant your useing and the type of wood your attaching it to as well.

I am trying to tie anubis and java ferns to a piece of drift wood I found. Not sure the type. It just seem I cant get the plant tight enough around the wood for it to look right.

Ah.. chances are it won't "look right" until the root system kicks in and actually grasps the wood. tying it to tight tends to cut-off the plants growth and too loose... bloody stuff falls off. which is partially why a nice peice of wood w/ a plant already rooted to it goes for a pretty penny usually. it's time. I prefer rubber bands for java fern myself slipping the band over the tuber chain part and then slipping it snuggy to to wood. depending on the growth about 2 monthes you cut the rubber band off and the plant settles in nicely. better to leave it to long then not long enough.

If tying something to a piece of wood with fishing line is way too difficult, there isn't much hope for you.

OK, that may have been a bit harsh . . . but he's got a point, in that you might want to give fishing line another try. it works very well, IMO

I use fishing line most of the time, but sometimes small rubber bands can also work well, although they can be a bit unsightly
