Plants are dying

I was told these plate were low light plants but after a few weeks there all dying. There in Eco complete and I use liquid fert . Most plants have roots and all the hair grass is just about brown . I use a single 40 watt light

It's a 55 gal tank also , I have 4 baby red bellys , trashed a few plants already, I'll try to get pictures

What plants? What kind of light? What color temperature bulb? WPG means about as much as Justin Bieber does to classical musicians (nothing at all).

Where the plants healthy when you got them? Where they emerged grown? What's the temperature of your water? And how long have you had the plants?

Not sure of the plants , 2800k bulb says it's a plant light , I bought the plants grown in a tank and looked good, there maybe about 3-4 weeks old now

2809k isn't really a good color spectrum. 7000k or similar is the best.

Also, is it a t5? T8?

T10 isn't going to cut it. Even for low light plants on something that tall you'd want like 2 or 3 t8 bulbs or a single really good t5ho
2t5's might be pushing it unless you raised the light a little

I had a t-10 6,500k bulb on my tank for a long time it kept my few plants alive for a months. It's not really the bulb size just how many kelvins it outputs cause that's what's really important.

Well guess I'll start looking into a new fixture ... I do have a reef light for it 32w 6500k , just put it in to see if it helps for now . I also looked and I had a power glow 40 w in it , says it's 18,000k

18,000k is way to high for freshwater plants. 6,000-10,000k is what you want. Even 10,000k is a bit high for freshwater plants.
