Plants are dying

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had a t-10 6,500k bulb on my tank for a long time it kept my few plants alive for a months. It's not really the bulb size just how many kelvins it outputs cause that's what's really important.

Not entirely true. The K rating is important, but if its not intense enough it won't do jack for plant growth. Its all about that K and that PAR when it comes to plant lighting. I just don't think a single t10 of any K rating is strong enough to penetrate through that height of water, not when my 2 t8's barely grew low light plants on my 75. I've since gone high tech with 4 t5-ho but that's not something I'd recommend without doing co2 ahead of time. I learned that one the hard way as well *sigh*

T8's imo are even outdated tech now a days for planted tanks with T5HO and LED's now available...

So maybe time to look into new lighting if you ask me...

I had a little 5" ultrasun 6,500k t10 bulb for atleast six months on a 75 and two or more on my 90. Both tanks it kept all my plants alive. Even hung almost a foot above the tank. My Anubis grew new leaves ,my pothos thrived and grew crazy vines. The only plants I lost was java ferns and duck weed.

I changed to that 6500k bulb last night and my tank temps are up from 75 to 78 today do to it being 60 outside today. A few of the plants look bigger and dark green were there growing now

I'am going to lowes today and going to build one, so you think 2- t5 bulbs will work best, I only want to do this once ya know

I think it's good, it might be a bit much but you can always raise the light if that's the case

Ok great ... Thanks for the help, I might build one for 3-4 bulbs for down the road ... I can always just run two for now

I killed all my live plants from doing too many water changes. Not really sure if that the problem you have but justthroughing it out their
