You could use water lettuce in place of duckweed, much larger plant that wont get sucked into your filtration...

i wont really have the problem of the duck weed getting sucked up because my drains are at the bottom of the tank.

so here is my thoughts: duck weed, anubias, java fern, Vallisneria spiralis

Hi, I recommend Vallisneria gigantea, that plant grows like crazy without any special care and it will fit with your stock.
