Plants for SA & CA tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Never ever had a real plant live for too long with a c/a cichlid. Actually Anubias Nana lives, just gets picked apart though/

Several species of Anubias could be an option. These plants look really nice when attached to Bogwood, mix with Java Moss and Fern. All these plants can be attached to Bogwood or rocks by using fishing line or in the case of Java Moss a Hairnet (it works !!!). By having plants growing on decor instead of substrate growers can give you a higher success rate, and will mean that some decor arranging cichlid species will ignore them. Having said that any herbivores such as Uaru's will decimate any green matter placed in their tanks!

i've had this sword in my tank for almost a year now, it fills up about 1/4 of my 55g

Cool. Any pics?

Sure, the sag is in the front to the left, and the fern and anubus in the the driftwood. This pic is not updated and I now I have 2 large swords. I will get another pic later. There is some plastic plants in the back, slowly switching to all live.
