Plants in hang on?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i had 64 cubic feet of pothos on my 240g and nitrate was still 60-80ppm with 50-75% weekly waterchange. algae scrubber brought it down to 20-40ppm
I've never used an algae scrubber or set one up, I have a 75gl with a canister & a hang on, if you could let me know the basics I would like to try it out? thx in advance

i use a waterfall style scrubber in my sump. lightings was 20x 3w 660nm LEDs (10 on each side) and screen was 16x10". it was producing a about a golf ball size of algae each week. couple of added bonus was that it removes the tint of the water and odor (not the ammonia smell but the earthy smell of a filtered tank)

Sounds good, I can't get that involved with a sump on a 75gl, I was thinking throw some Moss balls in the back of my hang on & hope it has similar effects, either way my tank stays relatively clean as long as I keep up with the water changes

wow thats some crazy nitrates,, you must have nitrates coming out of your tap? ive never had my nitrates that high, even with a 75 gal with 25+ african cichlids and only weekly WC.
