Smaller leaf size is usually an indicator of a lack of nutrients. Your elodea is growing fast and most likely using much of the available nutrients in the tank. Add some root tabs or plant stick fertilizer to your swords. Also, bulbs in your light fixture need to be replaced every 6 to 9 months. You may think they are providing enough light, but in reality they are not.
