Plants CAN help control nitrates but I would still recommend good ole water changes to maintain a healthy system

Without a doubt. Wc will continue, more frequently, but just wanted more plant info. I don't want to turn to dumping chemicals in the tank. I want to resolve this as naturally and as stress free as possible.

Another nutrient hog is hygrophila polysperma. A fast grower also considered invasive species and may be difficult to obtain. See federal noxious plant/weeds list.Water sprite and floating water lettuce are great too like posted above.

Finding balance is the key.

I have a one gallon "nursery" for my corydoras that has no filter. Only plants and that tank consistently reads less than 10 ppm nitrate. But it is also very very dense with plants

I know that the bamboo can't be fully submerged or it will rot, or so I was told. I had wisteria in my tank and it would've taken the whole tank over if I didn't constantly trim it, I eventually had to take most of it out but it grows incredibly quickly.

We had some of that. It does grow EXTREMELY fast. We got tired of it and the fish kept pulling it out so we just ended up with a wisteria tangled mess and just tossed it out
