Plants with Cichlids?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hi Puffer Girl, try putting in quite a lot of Vallisneria. As long as you can find. The fish tend to spend the initial time chewing it short before they start to pull it out. This gives some of it time enough to get the roots growing. Remember to feed with plant food. Good luck! I will look to posting a pic of a tank tonight. :naughty:  :woot: :clap :headbang2 :mwave:

I've kept different varieties of Vals, Java Ferns, several different Annubias, Dwarf Sags, and Red Melon Swords with my Malawi Haps for years with no problems.

as long as you have a good mix of plants and hard structure for the fish you should be fine. I know this one idiot who has probobly spent about 2 grand in our store on building a tank because he wants one that looks like a taskashi amano tank. he has covered the bottom with moss and the wood and has only plants in it, not one rock, or one plain piece of wood. he probobly drops about 200 a week with us becuase he insists on keeping africans. if you have the money i guess this is ok, not to mention the time. as long as you have lots of other structure plants are an awesome addition to an african tank.
