Plants

Never heard of the 3 months thing unless you are talking about non aquatic plants like some of the ones that petsmart sells. Many factors determine how well plants will do in your aquariums, including the type of lighting you have. A very easy plant I like is hornwort (Ceratophyllum demersum)as it will grow in almost any tank. Some fish will eat it though so if you have large fish that like plants it may not last long.

Those 'some' who 'say' are ignorant about aquatic plants. I grew a basketball-sized java fern clump from a single rootlet. It took 7 years to get it nice and round and full.

A guy at our LFC sold a Java Fern that he claimed to have been over 10 years old, the thing was huge. Plants will keep growing aslong as you don't neglect and kill them.

x2

Only plants not ment for aquatic life will live for a few months but other then that most aquatic plants live for years. I also have a few plants (Java fern, sword plants) that I got from rootlets, had them for over a year now and they're doing great.
