I wanted to add some plants to my tank, nothing that needs special lighting or any stuff like that. I was thinking frogbit as a floater to provide some shade, any one else know of a low maintenance plant that would look nice?

My crypts are virtually indestructible. And I say that because I have a black thumb when it comes to plants. I killed swords, wisteria and several other plants, but my crypts keep on growing. Java fern is another low resource plant. I bought ludwigia and lace leaf water sprite yesterday from a LFS who specialize in heavily planted tanks and the owner told me they were pretty hardly and should survive and even thrive just like my crypts (we shall see about that).

Can you post pics as I've been interested in keeping plants with no success

I also find crypts very hardy, I have grown them with simple shoplights

Java fern and anubus are also good under substandard light

anubus above, java fern below

Hornwort (Ceratophyllum demursum) is a great pretty fast growing floating plant that is hard to kill in my opinion.

Duanes got the crypt pic. Not sure what species of crypt I have because they all look so similar. But all of them tend to be very hardy.

I really liked the ludwigia repens, any ideas on a floating plant? I am still iffy on whether or not I should use frogbit. Duckweed is not an option, I heard it can be a real pain.

Amazon frog bit is an awesome floating plant.

I second that. My girl has those in her 55 gallon angelfish tank and they look awesome floating around with the slow current and gracefully swimming angels.
