Plants?

Everything green that grows. They are the definition of vegan ish.

Not a vegan. I had three clean out a tank short of some leporinus (too big) and a silver dollar (schooled with them). Had a piranha eat plastic plants, wouldn’t put that past a pacu either.
Anubias and Javas have tough leaves and are bad tasting, which usually wards off others. Java grows fast.
Hornwort or Val grows like a weed and may grow faster than the pacu can eat it.
Pacu likely isn’t going to let plants last long though, at 1.5-2 inches it should be safe, but that 2 inches becomes 8 inches in less than 6 months.

I just got the pacu I got two of them I’m so excited and they’re only like 1” and I’ve decided to not do plants

I know you said you know about pacus but....
Pacus get large pretty fast. I don't know what size tank you have but it'll out grow your plant on that I'm pretty sure. Also most plants will be eaten or destroyed by pacu whether they are tough or taste bad or good. They are plant and fruit/nut eaters in nature. Their teeth have developed to crush seeds and nuts that fall from over head trees. These teeth are also good for chewing up plants which they do. The 40b if that's where it's going will be to small within a year. When I was a kid back before "we" knew or could get the information "we" can get now I had a pacu that was about the size of a quarter when I got it, about 2 years later (actually less) it was to big for the 150 my mom had it in. Yes it ate some fish, again info was spotty at best back then. Feeders were totally a thing that was normal. The majority of their diet should be veg, fruits and nuts. I'm sure the multiple 100g tank or pond you have waiting will be a great home for this guy/gal.

Thank you and yea I just have a 40g tank to grow out fish in then I’ll move them to a 150 then a several hundred gallon pond I’ve decided to not get plants since I ended up getting two pacu

Hum. this is amusing the black pacu ( Colossoma macropomum) only grows to 40 inches .... probably has a mean bite. Might want to keep that pet Chihuahua away from the pond.

It is funny that you mention this - there was this one case in Scotland:

" They've also been known to bite humans when they mistake someone for food.
