Live plants absorb nitrates, oxygenate the water during the day, provide grazing for the fish and provide cover. Fake plants require no pruning etc, they can be cleaned. Its personal preference really. Plants can help your tank out in terms of stabilising quality of water though, however if your maintenance is good then they are not essential. Make your own choice![]()
Actually they absorb all forms of nitrogen, and nitrates are not taken up as quickly as ammonia.Angel51087;1070476;1070476 said:i was always on the side of fake but now am in love with my real plants! Even a single plant that is low light, and fast growing will make a huge difference.ThePBM;1071058;1071058 said:depends on how many plants you're going to have. if you're just going to have a single plant then it's not worth the hassle to try to keep it alive. if you're going with real plants, go all out in terms of plant stocking and you will reap the rewards of healthier fish and a nicer tank.
