Hi everyone, I was wondering if it is possible and a good idea to use a clear plastic storage bin to house fry in. I am thinking bare bottom sponge filter for filtration and a heater. Can this be done safely. I guess my real apprehension is with the heater near the plastic
How big of a tote? Most of them will do OK in fish service. I'd use mag-clips for heaters on them. I never have long term luck with suction cups, especially on plastic.
I’m not sure on size I have a few weeks to figure that out (the fry just hatched yesterday) maybe a 20-30 gallon size. Are the tough totes see through?

At what size do you guys recommend pulling the fry. The last time I had fry I left them in the tank (they were raised by the male. I lost the female due to parasites) and I had 3 make it.
Check out this idea from a breeder in Washington state. He breeds angels, rams, and plecos among other things. The downside to black or clear is the inability to see the fry or any other fish that might be in the tote. I have a couple blue totes that I prefer for temp holding facilities.
