'platinum = blah' = 'Why do people spend more money than I do on fish that I wouldn't like unless I had them and why do they get so much more attention than me and my fish?'

I'm not into these sorts of fish either and I did'nt detect any jealousy or disrespect from the OP.I hope that was not his intent.

I'd have to agree also. It sounds like the OP just doesn't like them and wants to know why others do so much I suppose..........I think they are kinda cool looking myself but not so sure if they're worth the cash. I guess to some they are though.to each his own.....

Let me say this first. I see people posting tanks on here with small fish that I would never keep, nor do I really see the use in having etc... etc... etc.... Yet, I will not express my thoughts to this end for I really don't think that is serves the common good

just my 2 cents

I have a ? is that you in your avatar with the dred's?

If it is, I would hazard a guess that your thoughts on the validity are shaped by your course of life. Now before you think this is a shot at you IT IS NOT!!! My hair has not been touched for over 8 years and is past my waist.

I am simply saying this-Is it not better to appreciate others tastes than to shoot them down. I may really truly hate and be disgusted by what I see others taking interest in or liking. Yet, is it my place to denigrate their personal tastes in what they keep for fish.

I think not.

In the days to come I am going to be in possession of some truly rare fish, that I am absolutely sure people will shake their heads and babble about the stupidity of what I paid or how I got them. In reality it is mine to decide what I keep not someone else.

And so what if in the days to come I shell out over 10-20 grand for a fish, IT IS MY MONEY!!!!!!!

I buy fish that please me and i like the look of, not to show off to others and gloat. I really like the look of some platinum, albino and other colour morph fish - not all - and would love to see them swimming alongside standard colour varients of the fish i already have. For me, cost is mostly the prohibiting factor of achieving this.

Is it just Platinum the op has a problem with or does it extend to Albino too? Because i do have albino pangasius and pleco, they're not the natural colouration but weren't a 4-figure price to buy unlike an albino rtc would be.

I have dreads and like platinum fish, whuddup?! :nilly:

In all honesty, if I could afford one it wouldn't be near as awesome.

It's the fact he made a thread to tell a bunch of people that their rare, expensive fish that they find to be really neat, and may have even worked really hard to get are "boring."

I'm detecting both jealousy and disrespect.
