Okay, I am completely new to Flowerhorns (But a long term Cichlid researcher/keeper) and I just got my first (and apparently not last!) :) FH a few days ago.

It is not a "pure" strain, but rather a mix of two strains. How does anybody keep up with all the different names for these fish, especially on Aquabid? I got mine locally. I don't like the "usual" looking ones - They are honestly a little too "seen one, seen them all" to me. (You know, the gray/blue/red ones)

This one is 2 1/2 inches, and is platinum white/pink, with a small melanin blotch (Not intense at all) on his forehead. (Just a gray bar from eye to eye across the snout)

First of all, this guy said he had already "peeled" - What does this mean?

Moreover his parentage was said to be dad: 1/2 Kamfa, 1/2 Jing Kang (NO ZZ) (What does ZZ or Kamfa mean anyway?)

Mom was a Red Shock.

Could you guys answer my questions, and give me some insight as to what you think of my little guy based upon my description of him?
Thanks

Don't know much about the FH's, but would love to see a pic of yours!

My best guess at "peeled" is that my gold female looked just like my green/red male, but then over about 10 days she turned gold.

exactly peeled is usually reffering to when they "peel" back their drab color and reveal their newer prettier color. Usually the Jingkang's peel, difference between kamfa and ZZ, often kamfas have a larger kok (head) sometimes vary in finnage, I believe a shorter snout sometimes bigger lips, and smaller eyes... I believe that covers most bases... I may be wrong but uhhh.. check out flowerhornusa.com good forum for flowerhorns! :)

Love to see some pix:popcorn:

Any of the babies you still have look like they may turn out like their Mom?

I like the JK look.......

That is actually what the store called it - a Gold Base FH.. is THAT itself a new type of FH? If so, anyone have any? Anyone got photos of adults?

Moreover, this guy is white, not pink :)
